MEMORIAL MITZVAH GOES WIRELESS
FT. LAUDERDALE, FL (October 26, 2004) - Carl Lender, vice president
of sales and marketing for CSI Associates, Inc., a telecommunications
consulting company based in Ft. Lauderdale, tapped his resources
& Internet savvy to help millions reach the world-famous Holocaust
Memorial Sculpture Garden on Miami Beach, which remembers the six
million Jews who perished in the Holocaust.
Avi Mizrachi, director of the Holocaust Memorial, needed high-speed
Internet access for the Web site
http://www.holocaustmmb.org/ to expand
the reach of this important historical landmark, but became frustrated
at every turn.
"The phone company said DSL service was not available at our location
and the cable company said our area was difficult reach, so it would
cost $30,000 to get access," said Mizrachi. "We need connectivity,
but not that badly."
In desperation, Mizrachi called an old friend, Carl Lender, with
whom he had produced "Survivors Voices," a program on the Holocaust
Memorial in conjunction with Steven Spielberg's Shoah Foundation
and Charter Communications. Lender, coincidentally in the telecom
business, called his friend Richard Troucchio, president of Wireless
Oceans Technology, Inc., which provides free wireless Internet service
to the Lincoln Road corridor, which is right near the memorial.
The three men put their expertise of telecommunication and their
interest in philanthropy together and created an innovative solution.
Truocchio will share the wireless signal from his own office at
Wireless Oceans Technology on Lincoln Road, with the Holocaust Memorial
which is only a few blocks away. The total cost from the original
$30,000 estimate? $250!
"Carl and his dad Murray of Lender's Bagel fame are longtime friends
of the Holocaust Memorial," said Mizrachi. "When he brought Richard
from Wireless Oceans Technology to the Memorial, he was visibly
moved.
"I knew how important it was to provide worldwide access to the
Memorial via the Internet," said Troucchio. "I'm glad we were able
to connect the Holocaust Memorial through our company and we also
chose to donate the monthly service fee as well."
